Interesting reads
- A New York firm is running an experiment in Austin, Texas to outfit homeless persons as walking wireless Internet hotspots. This experiment supposedly solves the problem of lack of Internet signal in cities and also provides these human hotspots with income. A novel, if controversial, initiative.
- When I grow up I want to be a geographer just like Elvin Wyly.
- Spatial intelligence (defined in the article as mechanical proficiency) matters just as much as book smarts and mathematical wizardry, perhaps even more! Sadly I have no mechanical talents but I know that people who do basically make the world run.
- Stereotypical maps of the world. Gotta love those, because they tell you more about the kind of people that make these maps than they do about the people the maps supposedly represent.
